Touch Music I is a composition utilizing various surfaces found in everyday life and in hardware stores. The piece is an investigation into how physical actions disturbing equilibrium of an object can express musical content. The focus is on tactile interactions between four performers and resonant surfaces such as sheets of paper, cellophane, polystyrene, metal and plastic tarp. In general, touch music is largely defined by such interactions, as these are the essential in formulation of musical language.
