Aiael’s Gold invites sonorities from the outside environment to the performance space. Two microphones transfer the street sounds to the concert hall, where they are processed and recorded. The complete recording of the sounds from the previous exterior (State Street, New Haven, CT in the recording bellow) is then used in the following performance (New York City in this case), thus transporting sonic memories of particular spaces to new locations. Aiael’s Gold takes three notorious common-practice period compositions and fills their rhythmic values with the tenor saxophone timbres and the sounds of the present and past exteriors. Performative actions form the core of Aiael’s Gold.

The composition works best in alternative performance spaces.
